Loop & Weft is a Japanese apparel brand using organic cotton and vintage loopwheel knitting machines to create their products. The client asked me to create a name based on the brand concept, in efforts to communicate that to an English speaking audience. In addition, I created brand copy used for various media, including web sites, hang tags and brochures.
These examples represent some of my suggestions for the name and feeling of the brand. Working with a designer, I suggested possible names and looks that display subtle variations of a vintage western European American inspired aesthetic theme. My inspiration was largely the actual machines, the era of their initial implementation, and the feelings their initial usage invokes. I was playing with style ideas of Americana from the last century.
I worked with the client to create copy for an English speaking audience, with the purpose of evoking the appropriate sentiment to match the brand ethos.
